The street entrance is just a large door, but what it hides is something quite spectacular: a foyer and staircase of unimaginable beauty! The Aegidium Theatre in Belgium opened its doors for the first time in 1905. The building was converted to a movie theatre in 1913, and the name was eventually changed to Cinema Aegidium in 1923.
The building has now stood empty for more than 30 years. There have been plans to restore it, but finding the finances has proven difficult.
